An update from the Mrs.

Wow! It has been over a year since I have blogged about our fascinating lives...ha! Here's a quick update...2010 was a pretty eventful year for us!
In February, Layn got hired with Arlington Fire Department and we moved in with Layn's sister and brother-in-law while he went through Arlington's training and probationary period. We spent majority of our time planning our wedding and we are so thrilled that we don't ever have to do it again! It was a beautiful wedding and an amazing day but the planning was horrible! I'm definitely a "Groom" Bride (I wanted to just get the dress and show up!) But everything turned out great with the help of our amazing family and friends. We couldn't have imagined a better day.
In August, I got a job with Keller ISD and I feel like I'm one step closer to a classroom of my own! I've been learning a lot working with K-4 students all day, every day. I'm in and out of classrooms and teaching small group lessons to various grade levels and even though I love the variety, I'm ready to settle down in a room of my own. Keep your fingers crossed for 2011-2012!
Right now, we are still living with the family but we are house hunting non-stop! We were looking around Haslet and Decatur but now we are looking for a house with land out in Royse City/Caddo Mills area. We are ready to be on our own again so we can finally feel like a real married couple...and then we can start thinking about babies! =)

Engaged! & A new year!

I haven't blogged since September but now I have exciting news...well technically I had exciting news in October but I didn't get around to blogging about it until today! So... Layn and I are engaged!!! =) He proposed to me at the Gaylord with a romantic dinner, a single white rose, 76 things he loves about me, and a gorgeous ring! See!

So obviously I said yes! We dont have a date yet because Layn is currently in the hiring process for Arlington fire department. We are crossing our fingers that he gets the job but we know that what's meant to be will be. So in about a week we will find out if we are going to be a part of a new family with Arlington FD. Very exciting but also a little stressful because we are very anxious! If he gets the job, we might be getting married in just a few short weeks. If not, we will be getting married in a couple months. Either way I got the dress and him so really I figure thats all I need. Everything else is just added bonuses.

I am excited to start a new year and hopefully 2010 is a great year for everyone!

Isnt it delicious!

I'm making some banana bread/cake and it smells delicious! I cant wait to try it. Hopefully it tastes as good as it smells. MmMm

This week has been a pretty great week for me. I got a job on Wednesday and tomorrow I'm going to a shooting clinic in Dallas with my mom and some of her girlfriends. I'm super excited about the shooting clinic. We got to choose 6 different events for the day and I am going to be spin casting (fishing) and shooting a rifle, pistol, bow & arrow, and there are two more but they have just slipped my mind. I guess the only bad thing about my week is having to have a cervical biopsy done yesterday. That was a very uncomfortable and kind of scary process. I will be getting my results back in a week so hopefully everything is A-OK! I'm a little nervous but at least if they find something they will have found it early. You gotta stay positive! =)

Well Layn is home so we are going to watch some George Lopez and enjoy some tasty banana bread!

Things are looking up!

I got a job today! FINALLY! I have been unemployed since November. The job market is so hard to get into right now. I thought it would be so much easier to get into teaching but it turns out that some of the people that lost their jobs in the corporate world suddenly decided to become teachers. I wish them the best of luck...well not really. Maybe after this year they will realize why they were in the corporate world instead of the Crayola world. But for now, I will be working at Primrose in Keller in the Pre-K room. I went yesterday for my second interview and got to spend some time in the classroom and I really enjoyed it. It's very different from public school but I'm excited to get some experience and to finally be back in the classroom with all my wonderful kiddos. Another exciting thing about getting this job is that I don't have to move back to Wylie! YAY! I get to stay with Layn which we are both VERY excited about.

Speaking of Layn... he is out at MEPS today for doctor consults to clear some of his medical dilemmas. He is trying to get into the Air Force so hopefully everything goes well today. This is the 5th or 6th time that he has gone and each time they just keeping jerking him around so cross your fingers that everything goes as planned today...or better! Even though I'm definitely not ready for him to leave, I support him 100%.He is currently a fireman in Richland Hills & Eagle Mountain so I know he is going to miss this but the air force is going to get him through school which is a good thing for him. Layn is also going to be testing for the Arlington Fire Department next month so really we don't know which direction his/our future is going but I know everything will work out one way or another! =)

I have a second interview tomorrow morning for a pre-k teaching position at primrose! =) cross your fingers that everything goes well! I really dont have anything to say for now, hopefully this will be more exciting. Ha
